We love where we live and even through a polar vortex there is no place we would rather be! Sometimes when Minnesota winter weather is frustrating, outdoor activities become challenging in the cold and snow. To help their neighbors beat the winter blues, the Reynold W. and Eleanor D. Larson Fund at WACF decided to financially support the purchase of 5 adult sized and 10 child sized Scandinavian Kicksleds for the Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center (PWELC). As part of Reynold and Eleanor’s legacy, the Fund loves supporting opportunities for children and activities that create relationships and connections. With little instruction and no special equipment other than winter boots and clothing, children and adults of all ages can connect to the outdoors and enjoy winter in Minnesota on bare ice or snowy trails on these kicksleds. In spite of the cold temperatures, over 200 people relished trying them out in their public debut at Spicer’s Winterfest the last weekend of January. PWELC joyously shared, “Thanks for helping to make happiness happen for the communities we serve!” Helping donors do good right here at home certainly warms WACF’s heart this winter!
