Gifts that power possibilities into reality is what we do. This November, law enforcement and emergency medical technicians in Kandiyohi County and Willmar began using the Vitals App. The Vitals App allows individuals with visible and invisible conditions and disabilities to create and share a personalized digital profile with authorized first responders via a secure, mobile app – improving real-time communication, reducing the risk of misunderstandings, and promoting greater independence.
After a Willmar resident learned about the Vitals App, she made it her mission to bring the service to Kandiyohi County after her adult son had an unfortunate encounter with law enforcement. She introduced the service to the sheriff’s office, police department, United Way, Rotary Club and your Willmar Area Community Foundation. Together, these organizations partnered to raise seed money to expedite the launch of Vitals. Kandiyohi County is the second rural area in Minnesota using this cutting edge technology border to border and the first in the nation to outfit our EMS ambulance personnel with it. A total of 91 area first responders will be trained to use the app, helping them with future situations and interactions with our vulnerable children and adults. Gifts in action indeed
