So many of the good things that happen in our community is through the generosity of local residents. We are fortunate to have volunteers who see a need and spearhead efforts to make a difference. Three such initiatives at the Central Minnesota Community Foundation are the Good Samaritan Fund, The Women’s Fund and Friends of The Gardens. Each of these funds are vehicles for our community to pool together their resources for the greater good of our community. Each initiative is run by a committed group of volunteers who steer the growth and progress of the initiative.
Since its establishment in 1997, the Good Samaritan Fund has granted $1.5M to help individuals who are going through a difficult time and need temporary assistance.
The Women’s Fund currently grants $78,000 annually to nonprofits who work with young girls, women in transition and elder women. This is possible because of the donors who have helped to build the Women’s Fund endowment to over $1.3M and who support their annual event, Dancing With Our Stars (pictured to the right).
Finally, the Friends of the Gardens is passionate about supporting our community parks. Their work, along with the City of St. Cloud and the Clemens family and friends, assures that our parks are beautiful and are visited by local residents as well as visitors to our area.
